Managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, Zoo Negara Malaysia was established as the first local zoo for Malaysians and officially opened on November 14, 1963. With over 5,137 specimens representing 476 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish, it has gained global recognition. The zoo, spread over 110 acres and located just 5km from Kuala Lumpur, has evolved into an open-concept facility, providing spacious and natural exhibits for over 90% of its animals.
