Since 1859, orchids have been an integral part of the Gardens. The Gardens’ orchid breeding programme, which started in 1928, showcases the exquisite results of their meticulous horticultural efforts. These orchids, expertly “hand-crafted” by the Gardens’ dedicated horticultural staff, are designed to highlight the best qualities of each hybrid cross. The programme’s products deserve a place where they can be displayed in their full splendour, reflecting the skill and dedication involved in their creation. The display of these magnificent orchids allows visitors to appreciate the beauty and diversity that the Gardens have cultivated over the decades.
